As a bespoke furniture maker in Sydney, Matt often found himself resurfacing damaged or worn timber tabletops; a slow, costly, and inconvenient process for families who had to transport heavy tables to and from his workshop. The challenge was to create a timber table that maintained the authenticity and natural beauty of the material, while standing up to the everyday demands of family life and the growing trend of working from home. The breakthrough came during a quiet, everyday moment. While playing beneath his handcrafted dining table with his toddler, Matt noticed the underside was untouched pristine even, despite the wear on the top surface from fork marks, crayon scribbles, and wine stains.  That simple observation sparked a radical idea: what if you could flip it?

This moment led to the creation of the Revolve Table, a dual-sided, rotating tabletop designed to combine luxury with lasting practicality. Developed and prototyped within a real family home, the design evolved through months of real-world testing. One of its key features is a smooth, cam-operated rotating mechanism, developed for ease of use without compromising the table’s refined aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from aircraft engineering, a lightweight torsion box structure adds strength without unnecessary weight.
